I watched Spotlight\u00a0 first and foremost because I was interested to see why it won the Academy for Best Film in 2015. In the end, I came away with a greater appreciation for (true, traditional and hard working) journalism and a sense of disbelief as to how the Catholic church had gotten away with so much. What the Boston Globe discovered during their investigation is really disturbing, leaving you unsettled and bothered.<\/p>\n

I hope you take the time to view this film. It is a great story and the cast did an wonderful job. But mainly, I hope that it will open your eyes and give you a sense of what these victims suffered under one of the oldest,\u00a0 most trusted and\u00a0 powerful institutions.<\/p>\n
